Galatasaray won the Turkish league title for the 18th time

Galatasaray won the Turkish league title for the 18th time with a 0-0 draw at arch-rivals Fenerbahce on Saturday after a season marred by an ongoing court investigation into match-fixing allegations against leading clubs.

Hundreds of Fenerbahce fans have occupied the pitch and clashed with police after Galatasaray won the Turkish league championship following a goalless derby.

The fans broke plastic chairs and threw them at the police who tried to use their shields to protect the players following the final whistle at Fenerbahce’s Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Saturday.

The feat also makes Terim the most successful coach in the history of Turkish football with five Super Lig titles to his name, beating previous record holder and ex-Trabzonspor boss Ahmet Suat Ozyazici.
