In the city that never sleeps, it may be some time while before the nation’s largest mass transit system rumbles back into service, as the MTA was not ready to resume service 24 hours after an unprecedented shutdown of New York City’s transit system, in preparation of Hurricane Irene.
It means that New York commuters may face difficulties heading into work Monday. There was no timetable as to when service would resume.
The rail lines that normally are used to park trains were underwater on Sunday.
