Speaking Wednesday at the winter meetings, Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine was asked whether he would talk about Red Sox rivalry with the New York Yankees.
“No, I hate the Yankees. I don’t want to waste this valuable time talking about the Yankees. This is too valuable,” a smiling Valentine said to laughter. “I told Joe Girardi I used to love them, but now I hate them.”
“Bobby is going to be probably a little bit different type of manager than Terry was” Joe Girardi, the Yankees’ manager said.
The previous day, Girardi had said he believed Valentine would add “spunk” to the rivalry, something the Red Sox skipper certainly did with his comments.
